The Japanese political party Path to Rebirth has announced that artificial intelligence (AI) will become its new leader. This was announced on September 16 by representatives of the party at a press conference in Tokyo.

Mitsutaka Okumura, a 25-year-old graduate student at Kyoto University's Graduate School, was appointed the new party leader, who immediately transferred his powers to AI, NHK News said.

"I am the assistant leader, and the AI will act as the new leader," Okumura announced.

He explained that artificial intelligence will be responsible for the actual decision-making of the party in the future. It has not yet been clarified exactly what powers the AI will be given, as well as how the neural network will begin to perform the functions of a leader. The authors of the materials explain that Okumura is a specialist in the field of artificial intelligence research.

Earlier, on September 6, The Sun newspaper reported that Katherine Sullivan, an employee of the Australian bank, was fired after 25 years of work and replaced with artificial intelligence (AI), which she trained. According to the publication, Sullivan was commissioned to develop and test customer responses for Bumblebee AI. Soon, she and other employees were fired because the AI allegedly handled their work on its own. The woman added that later the bank faced difficulties because artificial intelligence could not cope with the influx of calls from customers, and some of the employees were returned.
