Ryabkov noted the Trump administration's commitment to improving ties with Russia.
The administration of US President Donald Trump is committed to improving relations with Russia. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told reporters on September 16.
When asked about the possible exclusion of the United States from the list of countries unfriendly to the Russian Federation due to the emerging improvement in relations, he stressed that he was at the beginning of the road. At the same time, the Russian deputy Foreign Minister clarified that at the moment there is no reason to talk about such decisions.
"We see a certain political will that is manifested in Washington towards this, but there are not enough results, including in the purely bilateral sphere, where, after initial, initial achievements towards removing mutual irritants, we now have a new setback that we have to deal with," he said.
According to Ryabkov, this is just an illustration of the fact that a long way is being built from intentions to results. He expressed his intention to work hard and pointed out the positive nature of the American side's willingness to continue dialogue with the Russian Federation on all issues, including the most difficult ones.
Earlier, on September 5, Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, Executive Secretary for the preparation and holding of the Eastern Economic Forum, announced an agreement between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump on a rapprochement between Washington and Moscow. He also clarified that the parties have improved relations.
On August 22, Putin pointed to the "light at the end of the tunnel" in Russian-American relations after Trump's return to the White House. He expressed hope that the first steps taken are only the beginning of a full-scale restoration of bilateral ties.
