The import of used cars from China to Russia increased 4.5 times

In eight months of 2025, 38,000 used passenger cars were imported from China to Russia. This is 4.5 times more than in the same period last year, Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, said on September 16.

"The import of used cars from China began to develop actively only in the second half of 2024. Although the first cars arrived in Russia at the end of 2022. In July and August 2025, the volume of imports of Chinese "second-hand" (Used cars. — Ed.) approached the monthly mark of 8 thousand units," Tselikov wrote on his Telegram channel.

The Toyota brand accounts for 20% of used car imports from China, where they are manufactured. The leader is the Toyota RAV4 model, and Corolla, Harrier, Highlander, Prado, and C-HR are also in demand.

The second most popular car is Honda (12.6% share) with the models Breeze, CR-V, Vezel, Civic, XR-V. Volkswagen is next (11.5%) with Golf, Tayron, Tiguan, Traru, Terramont and T-Roc. Also, BMW, Geely, Audi, Hyundai, Changan, Nissan and Kia are among the ten most popular brands of used cars from China, Tselikov listed.
