The NPP was informed about the provision of only one external power supply line

The Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) has been provided with only one external power supply line for the fifth month. This was announced on September 16 by Evgenia Yashina, Director of Communications at ZAES.

She noted that if this line is disconnected, fuel will be required, 400 meters from the tanks with which the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) struck earlier on Tuesday. As Yashina pointed out, Ukrainian troops deliberately struck in the area of the warehouse in order to deprive the station of a backup source of energy needed to cool the reactors.

"This fuel is intended for emergency diesel generators. These generators are the last line of protection for the nuclear power plant. They turn on when the station loses all external power sources (which has happened more than once). At the moment, the power supply to the station is provided by a single line. In fact, this is a red line," TASS quoted Yashina as saying.

The spokeswoman added that if the reserve fuel is destroyed, the nuclear power plant will lose its last source of energy for cooling the reactors, which will have irreversible and catastrophic consequences.

Earlier on September 16, the Telegram channel of the NPP reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were firing artillery in the area of the facility's fuel depots. It was noted that the distance from the fire source to the diesel fuel tanks was about 400 m. Despite the shelling, the radiation background at the station and in the surrounding area remained within the normal range.

On September 12, the Governor of the Zaporizhia region, Yevgeny Balitsky, drew attention to the fact that the leadership of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was not responding to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attacks on the nuclear power plant. According to him, the IAEA should take steps to prevent the nuclear threat posed by the Kiev regime.
