The expert spoke about the growth of pork supplies to foreign markets in 2025
The dynamics of pork and offal exports shows significant growth in 2024-2025 compared to previous years for several reasons at once. This opinion was expressed by Ilya Ilyushin, head of the Agroexport Federal Center, in a conversation with Izvestia.
He noted that the opening of the Chinese market, to which supplies of Russian products began in March 2024, had its effect.
— China is the largest market in the world, so the possibility of shipments there has had a positive impact on Russian exports. Moreover, it is important that China buys not only meat, but also offal: ears, piglets and other parts of the carcass that are not in demand on the Russian market, but are in demand from Chinese consumers," the expert said.
Another important export destination is India. According to the Indian Statistical Service, quoted by Ilyushin, in the first half of this year, Russia quadrupled its exports of pig products to this country, becoming the second main supplier.
"Demand in India is steady, taking into account the needs of HoReCa and the pharmaceutical industries, while supply does not fully meet this demand due to outbreaks of African swine fever in the country and the lack of large pig breeds," the source explained.
In the first half of 2025, according to Agroexport, Russia supplied more than 190 thousand tons of pork and offal to foreign markets. In value terms, shipments exceeded $470 million, an increase of 79% compared to the same period last year. In physical terms, the volume of exports increased by 53%.
