Many people associate the IT field exclusively with developing and writing code, but in reality it is much broader and includes dozens of other areas. Anton Vasiliev, director of the Hexlet IT College, told Izvestia on September 18 about why you can't become a programmer or developer in order to make good money in IT.

"Employers in the IT sector are actively looking for specialists with competencies that do not involve development skills, as well as those who know how to manage systems, analyze data, and maintain the company's infrastructure. Network and system administrators are a good example of such a profession. Their task is to maintain the operability of the entire internal IT infrastructure: from servers and corporate networks to data storage systems," the expert said, adding that such specialists can earn from 100 thousand rubles.

He also noted that creative professions such as designers and product managers are becoming an important part of IT teams, responsible for user interaction with digital products. Currently, salaries for the position of a junior product manager start from 100-110 thousand rubles on average.

"Another area that is closely related to the Internet and does not require any development skills is marketing and commerce. Here, analytics and the ability to organize communication channels come to the fore. A modern marketer is responsible for the formation of creative campaigns and a competent assessment of their effectiveness, using advanced web analytics, artificial intelligence and automation tools," said the director of the institution.

In addition, there is an acute shortage of specialists in the fields of robotics and automation. According to Vasiliev, vacancies are open in this industry for software developers, as well as for people involved in the implementation, testing and maintenance of equipment. Salaries of such specialists now amount to 100-120 thousand rubles, and, according to forecasts, they will grow in the coming years.

Alexey Karpunin, Director of Information Technology, founder of the IPWK Academy of IT Management, and Olga Romanova, HR Director of the Bazis IT developer, told Izvestia on July 26 that IT and engineering specialists remain the most in demand on the labor market, while their salaries significantly exceed the average. According to him, the demand for DevOps engineers, machine learning (ML) specialists and critical power supply engineers is two to three times higher than the supply. At the same time, companies are looking not just for theorists, but for professionals with real-world experience.
