Many car owners believe that if the car is not moving, it does not wear out, but in practice, prolonged parking can be a serious challenge for the equipment. Pavel Bakharev, senior technical expert at Sintec Lubricants, told about this on September 16.

"Even a new car, left without movement for a long time, is not immune from problems. And first of all, technical fluids are affected — the "circulatory system" of the machine. The loss of their working properties can lead to internal corrosion, lubrication failure, future overheating, and even system failure," Rossiyskaya Gazeta quoted Bakharev as saying.

So, even in a stationary car, the engine oil oxidizes and continues to age, the protective and lubricating properties decrease. Additives and thickener are stratified, and dirt can settle at the bottom of the crankcase. Antifreeze, especially with silicates in its composition, loses its ability to resist corrosion over time, the expert noted.

In addition, although the brake fluid is in a closed system, it absorbs moisture from the air. This reduces its boiling point and impairs the braking system. Finally, the fuel loses its properties during prolonged storage. Gasoline's octane number drops, tarry deposits appear, and condensation forms in an incomplete tank, which can cause corrosion. Diesel fuel, especially summer fuel, can "bloom" — microorganisms develop in it, forming sediment and clogging filters, the specialist pointed out.

Earlier, on September 11, auto expert Roman Sokuev said that, contrary to myths, there are no "secret" oils for Chinese electrified cars, since their requirements are based on generally recognized international standards.
