- The court terminated the proceedings on Pobeda's complaint about changes to the baggage rules.
The Moscow City Court dismissed the case on the complaint of Pobeda Airlines due to the fact that the carrier made advisory changes to the rules for carrying hand luggage after the decision of the Shcherbinsky District Court of the capital. This was reported on September 16 by a correspondent of Izvestia.
Thus, the court granted the request of the prosecutor, who asked to terminate the proceedings in the case, as Pobeda had made adjustments. On September 9, the company announced the lifting of restrictions on the weight of hand luggage and the expansion of the size of the dimensions.
After the changes are made, passengers will be able to take on board a laptop or tablet in a soft case, as well as a bouquet of flowers, outerwear and an umbrella-cane in excess of the established norm. Rollators, folding wheelchairs, crutches, canes and walkers are also not subject to additional charges.
At the same time, the main option for carrying hand luggage remains — things that fit into a calibrator measuring 36x30x27 cm. An alternative option now includes one piece of hand luggage with dimensions up to 15x36x30 cm and a backpack up to 12x36x30 cm, or a bag or briefcase with things, or things placed in the calibrator..
Earlier, on September 9, the Russian airline Pobeda changed the rules for the carriage of hand luggage, in particular, the weight restrictions were lifted and the allowed dimensions increased. The company also clarified that the previous dimensions of hand luggage (36x30x27 cm) remain in force, and passengers can continue to use them if the luggage fits into the calibrator without weight restrictions.
On May 30, the court declared illegal the action of Pobeda Airlines, which reduced the permissible size of hand luggage. It was noted that Pobeda had abused the legislative right to determine the size of hand luggage. They were significantly reduced to a width of 4 cm. This effectively prevented passengers from carrying items whose size was not subject to restrictions.
On July 6, the Shcherbinsky Court of Moscow ordered Pobeda Airlines to increase the dimensions of hand luggage, which were unacceptably reduced. At the same time, the plaintiff in the case clarified that the established standards of Pobeda are aimed at circumventing the provisions of current legislation and infringe on the rights of citizens.
