Over the past day, 348 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 39 people were killed and 403 injured. 34 of the dead were passengers and drivers. This was reported to Izvestia on September 16 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

22 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which two people were killed, and 23 more road users needed medical help. 12 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.

So, in the Orel region, on 393 km of the federal highway M-2 "Crimea" at night, a 24-year-old car driver drove into the oncoming lane in a prohibited place, where he collided with a tourist bus. Both the perpetrator of the collision and his two 21-year-old passengers were killed in the accident.

As a result of 102 road accidents, 57 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 45 outside their area of operation, five pedestrians were killed, and 98 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 20 child pedestrians, half of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas.

47 accidents involving minors were also registered, in which 54 young road users were injured, including 20 passengers, six cyclists and three motor vehicle drivers. There are no dead children.

The State Traffic Inspectorate urged motorists to strictly observe traffic regulations and be more attentive to their well-being before getting behind the wheel, especially at night. It is important not to overestimate your strength and health, take care of yourself, and do not neglect even the most minor signs of impending fatigue or illness.

"Take care not only of yourself, but also of other road users, including your passengers. Even if your health worsened immediately before the previously planned trip, you should abandon it until you fully recover or have a good rest. In addition, avoid risky driving, speeding, sudden lane changes, overtaking, and other dangerous maneuvers. Always leave yourself time to react adequately to a possible change in the traffic situation at any moment," Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, told Izvestia.

On September 12, it was reported that following the results of eight months of 2025, Moscow recorded a decrease in the number of accidents involving drivers with signs of intoxication by 30.5%.
