An Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip could cause a serious humanitarian crisis and worsen Tel Aviv's relations with Muslim countries. This was stated on September 16 by political analyst Dmitry Brije to Izvestia.

"Israel has now officially launched a ground assault on Gaza, deployed troops and began the main phase of the operation. Of course, this will create a major humanitarian crisis, and even after the strike on Qatar, it will also create a certain base for pressure. That is, more and more countries will refuse to cooperate with Israel in the Muslim Islamic world," the expert said.

According to Brije, the rapid completion of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) offensive in the Gaza Strip looks more like a political formula than a real military plan. Tel Aviv has officially launched the ground phase of the operation to occupy the city, but such a strategy faces a number of difficulties.

"If a quick victory is not visible even in professional military assessments, then there is a possibility of a protracted conflict scenario, that is, long street battles that may not lead to victory for the Israeli army," he said.

In addition, Brydje added that public signals do not indicate the complete cleansing and stabilization of the city, but only the achievement of certain visible boundaries. The main goals may be to cut key highways and reduce the activity of the Palestinian Hamas movement.

On the same day, Israel launched a ground operation to occupy Gaza City. Later, the country's defense ministry noted that the IDF would launch attacks on Gaza until it defeated Hamas and freed the hostages. The UN Commission of Inquiry into the Events in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Israel has recognized Tel Aviv's actions in the Gaza Strip as genocide.

According to the Axios portal, the ground operation received the support of the United States. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that due to the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip, Hamas has little time to agree to a cease-fire deal.
