The beach at Makadi resort in the Egyptian city of Hurghada was closed due to sharks approaching the shores. This was reported to Izvestia on September 16 at the hotel in the local Stella Beach Makadi Hotel.
"[We are closed], maybe for 4-5 days already, because we have sharks," the hotel clarified.
A number of media outlets report that the authorities were forced to take urgent security measures after Russian tourists spotted marine predators near the coastline. Beaches adjacent to ten hotels have been temporarily banned from swimming.
At the same time, in the Russian Union of Travel Industry. (PCT) stated that access to the sea has already been opened.
"Shark attacks on humans have not been recorded. It is necessary to closely monitor the messages of the marine rescue service and follow all recommendations," the union reports TASS.
Earlier, on April 17, a Russian tourist told about a shark attack in the Maldives. According to the girl, the incident occurred closer to the end of the tour, after half an hour of swimming with sharks. The Russian woman added that she had already been on a similar tour four years ago, then everything was fine.
