Repeated magnetic storm recorded on Earth
After a short break between 3 and 6 a.m., a new G1 (weak) magnetic storm was registered on Earth. This was announced on September 16 on the website of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"The current regime roughly corresponds to the initial forecast for the passage of the coronal hole, and unless new circumstances intervene, this will be the geomagnetic situation for the next 2-3 days," the publication says.
Scientists note the high speed of the solar wind, which has now crossed the red boundary of 750 km/ s, separating just high speed from extremely high.
Earlier, on September 15, the Russian Academy of Sciences reported that the strongest G3-level magnetic storm in three months began on Earth due to the impact of a coronal hole on the Sun. They added that the duration of the deterioration of the geomagnetic situation will be at least 4-6 days.
