Due to Israel's operation in the Gaza Strip, the radical Palestinian movement Hamas has little time left to agree to a cease-fire deal. On September 16, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters while flying from Israel to Qatar as an intermediary.

"The Israelis have already started conducting operations there. Therefore, we believe that we have very little time in which a deal can be reached. We don't have months anymore, and we probably have days, maybe even a few weeks," Barron's quoted him as saying, citing AFP.

On September 16, Israeli media reported that Israel had launched massive strikes throughout the Gaza Strip. It was noted that intensive strikes are being carried out on strategic facilities in Gaza.

Later, it was reported that the United States supported Israel's ground operation in Gaza. According to Rubio, the occupation must be completed as soon as possible.
