Shoigu arrived in Baghdad for a meeting with the top leadership of Iraq

Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu arrived in Baghdad on September 16 for a meeting with Iraq's top political and military leaders.

According to the TASS news agency, during the meetings, the Russian side intends to strengthen and enhance cooperation with the country in the field of security.

It is noted that the dynamics of Russian-Iraqi relations and regional issues will be discussed.

The development of En-Nasiriya can become a logistics hub for all Russian energy projects in the south of the republic.

Earlier, on February 28, the Russian-Iraqi intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation was held in Baghdad. During the meeting, key issues of deepening cooperation in various sectors of the economy were discussed. The meeting was attended by representatives of relevant ministries and departments of Russia and Iraq, as well as business circles of both countries.
