Daniil Gleikhengauz, choreographer of the Eteri Tutberidze group, announced on September 15 that he had been denied admission to the qualifying tournament of figure skaters for the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy.

He also expressed surprise at the rejection, stressing that he could not imagine that he did not meet any criteria. He pointed out that he always tried to be correct and careful in his statements, and this was the reason for choosing him to accompany the athlete Adelia Petrosyan.

"The first reaction was, of course, shock," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

According to the press service of the International Skating Union (ISU), Gleichengauz did not pass the verification procedure and did not meet the selection criteria of the International Skating Union (ISU) for the Olympic qualification tournament of figure skaters.

"The support staff goes through the same screening procedure as individual neutral Athletes (AIN). Daniil Gleikhengauz was announced as a support staff for Adelia Petrosyan and did not meet the selection criteria set out in the ISU report," the press service said in a statement.

On August 20, the ISU published on its official website the list of participants in the qualifying tournament for figure skaters for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Italy. Among the Russian figure skaters, Petrosyan and Pyotr Gumennik were admitted to the qualifying tournament. Alina Gorbacheva and Vladislav Dikidzhi are going to the selection as substitutes. Sports and dance couples were not allowed to participate in the competition. The skaters will compete under a neutral status.
