The number of Schengen visas issued to Russians has decreased from 4 million in 2019 to 541 thousand in 2024, European Commission (EC) representative Markus Lammert said at a briefing in Brussels on September 15.

He also confirmed that the EC is currently developing a new strategy for issuing Schengen visas to Russian citizens.
