In the United States, work crews have begun cutting down trees and shrubs to prepare a site for the construction of a ballroom in the White House, which was previously announced by American leader Donald Trump. This was reported on September 15 by The Washington Post (WP).

"Work crews began cutting down trees, removing shrubs and digging up sections of the South Lawn of the White House, embarking on President Donald Trump's project to build a ballroom with an area of 90,000 square feet (8.3 thousand square meters) worth $ 200 million on a site south of the East Wing of the building," the material says..

According to the newspaper, the details of the construction project were not disclosed. The White House has not released architectural plans for the building or its exact location, nor has it submitted the project to the National Capital Planning Commission.

At the same time, American officials did not specify how many trees would be removed to make room for the premises.

The Hill newspaper noted on August 2 that Trump's plan to create a ballroom in the White House was criticized in the United States. The publication cites statements by the American president, according to which "not a single government dollar will be spent on this project, which his predecessors have been trying to implement over the past 150 years."

On August 28, the American leader signed a decree that obliges the construction of all new federal buildings in the classical architectural style.
