The nuclear sphere can become the basis for restoring cooperation between the West and the East. This was stated on September 15 by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto at the 69th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna.

"We Hungarians can serve as a good example, or at least inspire, that nuclear energy can indeed become the platform on the basis of which the restoration of civilized cooperation between East and West is certainly possible," RIA Novosti quoted Szijjarto as saying.

He also noted that dividing the world into blocs is unacceptable and even dangerous, so Hungary is interested in restoring cooperation between the West and the East. For example, Rosatom is already successfully working with Western companies in Hungary.

Szijjarto also stressed that the energy sector should not be sanctioned and should remain outside politics.

Earlier, on September 10, the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen called on the European Union (EU) to permanently get rid of energy resources from Russia. She noted that they will be replaced by "European clean energy based on nuclear energy."

On September 12, Inna Andronova, Doctor of Economics, Dean of the RUDN University Faculty of Economics, predicted that the EU's complete rejection of Russian energy would negatively affect the competitiveness of all European goods. In such events, the EU will abandon the production of its own products in favor of purchasing goods from the United States.
