- The military expert called the consequences of the introduction of a no-fly zone over Ukraine
The closure of the skies over Ukraine by NATO countries to neutralize Russian drones could lead to World War III and the use of tactical nuclear weapons. Military expert Yuri Knutov told about this on Monday, September 15.
According to the expert, the direct involvement of the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance in the conflict would be a disaster for Europe.
Earlier, on September 14, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said that the issue of the introduction of a no-fly zone over Ukraine should be discussed. Life.Ru . He noted that Poland does not have the right to make such decisions on its own, and therefore it is necessary to wait for the response of NATO and the European Union (EU).
The diplomat said that such a possibility was discussed a year ago with European leaders, when former US President Joe Biden was in office.
"The closure of the skies over Ukraine is actually the invasion of NATO troops on its territory. The direct participation of the troops of these countries, which plan such operations, in the conflict means declaring war on us. This is a casus belli and the declaration of World War III, which will eventually escalate into a war involving tactical nuclear weapons. Such proposals will be put forward only by people who do not realize that Russia is a nuclear power and still tolerates numerous violations of the red lines that our leadership has repeatedly stated," the military expert emphasized in a conversation with The Paragraph.
Knutov added that the appeals of the Polish leadership do not mean that the skies over Ukraine will close soon. So far, statements about the introduction of a no-fly zone remain only political provocations, he concluded.
The Austrian newspaper Kurier reported on September 13 that the political situation in Poland has become extremely uncertain after the incident with drones, which demonstrated the vulnerability of NATO in the matter of security, reports RT. It is clarified that weapons experts have long been raising the issue of creating a drone protection system along the eastern border of the North Atlantic Alliance. However, at the moment, no NATO country has implemented such a defense system.
On September 10, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called the incident with the appearance of several drones in the skies over the republic a large-scale provocation. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on the same day that Russia regularly faces unsubstantiated accusations of provocations from Western countries.
