On Monday, September 15, the traditional "Moscow Museum Week" started, during which residents and guests of the capital can visit a number of museums for free. More than 30 museums are participating in the event, dedicated to various topics from space exploration to splint art. Izvestia tells us which expositions will be available during the campaign.

Moscow Museum Week — about the action

Moscow Museum Week is an action launched in 2019 to increase the accessibility of cultural institutions. Every third week of the month, the capital's museums open their doors to everyone — admission to the main exhibitions and some temporary exhibitions becomes free.

Most museums participate in the promotion every month, but 10 institutions have free admission days that change throughout the year. To visit the exhibition, you must register a ticket on the museum's website or on the Mos Ticket portal. However, the number of free tickets is limited, so it is important to purchase them in advance.

Recommendations for free visits to Moscow museums

To make viewing the expositions during the Moscow Museum Week comfortable, it is important to adhere to a number of simple rules.:

  • It is better to plan a visit to the museum for the first half of the day, when cultural institutions are less busy. This is especially true for families with children and large companies.;
  • If you plan to visit several museums on the same day, it is recommended to select institutions located in the same area and plan a route between them in advance.;
  • Some museums provide access to temporary exhibitions as part of the campaign, as well as hold workshops, lectures, screenings and other additional events. Therefore, before going to the museum, it is important to familiarize yourself with the rules of visiting and the news of the institution.;
  • If you have already run out of free tickets on the website, you can try to purchase them on the day of the visit at the box office. Sometimes a small number of tickets are allocated specifically for this purpose.

Earlier, Izvestia reported on a new exhibition at the Moscow Museum of Time and Clocks.
