Televisions and other screens have become an important part of the daily lives of modern families. Children watch cartoons, educational programs, and play video games. However, excessive time spent in front of screens can negatively affect vision. Ekaterina Subbotina, Product Director of the HYUNDAI brand, and Anastasia Samarina, ophthalmologist, told Izvestia on September 16 about how to make interaction with digital devices safe.

According to them, children over the age of seven are advised to keep a distance of 2-3 m from the screen, sit directly in front of the TV and take breaks every 30 minutes. Kids under three years old should limit the time in front of the screen to half an hour.

"The proximity significantly increases the load on the lens of the eye, causing rapid fatigue and decreased visual acuity," the ophthalmologist noted.

Experts drew attention to the fact that modern technologies allow you to control not only the image quality, but also the very process of using the TV. This helps to preserve the child's visual health and his psychoemotional state, which is important for harmonious development.

Additional protection is provided by the children's regime, which creates a safe media environment for children.

"When the function is activated, the system requests the installation of a PIN code so that the child cannot change the settings on his own," explained Subbotina.

If you experience disturbing symptoms such as eye fatigue, headaches, sleep disorders, learning difficulties, or the desire to watch TV too closely, you should consult a doctor. According to Samarina, flickering on the screen causes tension in the eye muscles and, with prolonged exposure, can reduce visual acuity. Therefore, it is important to observe digital hygiene and screen time mode.

Sino Goziev, an ophthalmologist at JSC "Medicine" (Academician Roitberg Clinic), Ph.D., told Izvestia on September 14 that vision problems often develop due to excessive eye strain caused by the constant use of gadgets. As a result, the visual muscles stop functioning normally, which leads to eye fatigue and decreased image clarity. Their condition can also be affected by using the wrong glasses or contact lenses.
