Geely to launch hybrid crossover sales in Russia for the first time
Geely has announced the launch of the new EX5 EM-i crossover on the Russian market, which will be the brand's first hybrid model in Russia. The new product will go on sale in the near future, the brand's press service told Izvestia on September 15.
The Geely EX5 EM-i shares the GEA platform with the conventional EX5, which has an all-electric powertrain and has been on sale in Russia since March this year. The new crossover is equipped with a parallel-serial hybrid Super Hybrid system.
On short urban routes, the car can move in fully electric mode, whereas during long trips, the internal combustion engine is activated, which can directly drive the front wheels, and also helps replenish the traction battery without being tied to the charging infrastructure. Technical specifications and prices have not yet been specified.
Earlier, on September 9, Belgee announced that sales of the new Belgee X80 hybrid crossover would begin in Belarus at the end of September. It is stated that this is the first series-parallel hybrid in the line of the Belarusian plant. The Chinese Geely Galaxy Starship 7 was used as the basis for the Belgee X80.
