- The State Duma spoke about the prospects of a four-day working week in the Russian Federation
The labor market in Russia will eventually switch to a four-day working week, but this process should not be imposed by regulation and is not suitable for all professions. This was announced on September 15 by Yaroslav Nilov, head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs.
"I believe that we will eventually come to this. But all this should take place evolutionarily, synergetically, and in no case should there be any regulation," he said in an interview with TASS.
In addition, the deputy clarified that it is impossible to reduce the income of citizens while reducing the number of working days. He also noted that the labor market should come to a new schedule on its own.
Nilov added that after the pandemic, many employers have partially switched to remote and mixed forms of employment, and some companies are already using four- and three-day working weeks due to the redistribution of resources and self-organization.
Nilov stressed that it is not possible to reduce working hours in this way in all areas.
"There are forms of employment where people receive piecework, there are services that operate continuously. The doctor will not perform the operation remotely. Therefore, we must understand that this will be gradual, it will not apply to all areas, not all positions," the head of the committee added.
