Trump expressed confidence in an early meeting between Putin and Zelensky
The head of the White House, Donald Trump, assured that a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky with the presence of the United States as a third party would take place in the near future. He announced this on September 14 during a press conference at the White House.
"Relatively soon. We will resolve this issue one way or another, but relatively soon," he replied to a question about the meeting between Moscow and Kiev.
Trump also noted the strong tension between Putin and Zelensky, which is why the meeting has to be postponed.
On September 14, Trump called Putin and Zelensky's "strong mutual dislike" the reason for their direct negotiations. It was clarified that this circumstance forces him to intervene in the negotiation process.
