More than 300,000 Palestinians left Gaza City after IDF evacuation order
According to estimates by the Israeli military, more than 300,000 residents left Gaza City after the Israeli evacuation announced before the intensification of the ground offensive. This was reported on September 14 by The Times of Israel newspaper.
"According to the latest estimates by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), more than 300,000 Palestinians have evacuated from Gaza City to other areas of the Strip," the material says.
It is noted that about 1 million people live in the city and the evacuation, according to military estimates, is slower than expected.
Earlier, on August 20, the IDF launched an offensive on the city of Gaza. In preparation for the capture operation, the IDF called up 60,000 troops from the reserve and extended the service life of 20,000 reservists. The operation was called "Gideon's Chariots – 2".
Al Mayadeen journalist Mahmoud Alawadia told Izvestia on August 24 that the Jabalia al-Nazla area was under intense Israeli artillery fire. According to him, residents have to leave their homes en masse, fleeing from shelling and attacks by the IDF. The territory adjacent to Jabalia al-Nazla district is classified as a "red zone".
