Trump asked for $58 million to protect officials after Kirk's death
The administration of US President Donald Trump has sent a request to the US Congress for additional funding to ensure the safety of officials in the amount of $ 58 million after the murder of political activist Charlie Kirk. This was reported on September 13 by Bloomberg, citing an unnamed White House official.
"The Trump administration is asking Congress to allocate an additional $58 million to strengthen the security of the executive and judicial branches of government after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk," the material says.
This amount, as specified, will also cover the costs of ensuring the safety of lawmakers, if necessary. It is assumed that this proposal to amend the interim bill will be considered before September 30 of this year.
Charlie Kirk died as a result of an attempted shooting on September 10. On September 12, Trump called for the death penalty to be imposed on the shooter, which, as pointed out by Utah Governor Spencer Cox, is legal in this area.
Kirk's widow Erica said on September 13 that her husband was killed because he preached patriotism, faith and the merciful love of God. She also noted that her husband's legacy will not disappear and she will make every effort to turn Kirk's organization, Turning Point USA, into "the greatest in the country."
