More than 400 representatives of the Extinction Rebellion climate movement were detained in The Hague while blocking the A12 motorway connecting three Dutch provinces as part of an uncoordinated rally. This was announced on September 13 by the press service of the city police.

"During the blockade [of the highway], we arrested 402 activists for violating the Law on Public Gatherings," they said in a statement posted on the social network page X (ex. Twitter).

It is specified that the detainees, including those who attempted to resist the police, were taken to one of the stadiums, from where they were released after traffic on the blocked road was restored.

On July 5, the newspaper Sud Ouest reported on the use of tear gas by the police in response to the aggression shown by eco-activists in the framework of an action organized in France. The newspaper clarified that the protesters opposed the construction of the A-69 motorway, which will run between the French cities of Toulouse and Castres (Tarn).
