The events of the First World War are being given their rightful place in Russian history, as discussed at an international scientific conference in Kaliningrad dedicated to the events of that period. During the event, a new project "Thousands of Names" was presented, the main purpose of which is to create an online archive describing the fate of the heroes of the First World War, to collect stories and memories.

"Until 2014, there was not a single film dedicated to the First World War. Well, the episodes are there, "Walking in Torment", "The Quiet Don". There are no documentaries on the fingers of my hand, not a single state monument, not a single state museum. Somewhere there is a forgotten war. These are very instructive events," said the Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Russian Military Historical Society Vladimir Medinsky.

He stressed that these events really had a fundamental impact on changes in world history.

Another goal of the Thousand Names project was to help contemporaries reconnect different generations through a search for roots.

On September 6, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that Russia's military history should become the basis for the ideology of cinematography in the country. At the same time, Russian film director, screenwriter and actor Nikita Mikhalkov drew attention to the fact that the modern international elite was attempting to falsify significant historical events.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
