The State Duma announced an excessive burden on schoolchildren in Russia
On September 13, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin expressed the opinion that Russian schoolchildren face excessive workload, which leaves them with no time for additional classes and visits to sections.
Volodin stressed that schoolchildren spend about 12 hours a day studying, taking into account short breaks and the way to school.
"And where is the time for additional classes, sections, communication with peers and family?! With such a load, it just doesn't exist," the State Duma speaker wrote on his Telegram channel.
He also added that he considers it necessary to resume discussion in the State Duma on the issue of overloading schoolchildren.
The head of the Fair Russia — For Truth party, Sergei Mironov, announced on September 7 that the party would submit to the State Duma in the fall a bill to abolish homework for schoolchildren on weekends. He also added that the solution of issues related to the quality of homework and the proper distribution of the workload is the responsibility of teachers. Therefore, according to the faction, it is necessary not only to facilitate their work, but also to provide them with decent pay — at least 200% of the average salary for one rate.
