The member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) are united by the desire to develop a dialogue of peoples and protect sovereignty. This was announced on September 13 by Olga Lyubimova, Head of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, during a meeting with cultural figures and officials of the Union countries at the XI St. Petersburg International Forum of United Cultures.

"The SCO countries are united not only by vivid historical ties, rich cultural heritage rooted in the past, but also by a common desire to develop dialogue between our peoples, strengthen sovereignty, and enhance national, cultural, and spiritual heritage for the future generation," the TASS news agency quoted her as saying.

According to the minister, the unity of the countries within the framework of the commonwealth confirms the trembling ties, as well as the preservation of common historical memory.

On September 6, Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, pointed to the growing interest in the SCO from the world powers. According to him, more than 10 applications are currently under consideration for joining the organization.
