A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. Units of the North group defeated formations of four mechanized and amphibious assault brigades and an assault regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Sumy region. The enemy's losses amounted to 160 soldiers, and a tank, an armored combat vehicle, 10 vehicles and an artillery piece were also destroyed. An electronic warfare (EW) station and eight ammunition depots were hit.

Units of the western group hit the tank and mechanized brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region and the DPR. The enemy's losses amounted to more than 230 soldiers, three armored combat vehicles and an artillery piece. Electronic warfare stations and three ammunition depots were destroyed.

The Yug group continued its successful offensive in the DPR, destroying more than 200 military personnel and equipment, including tanks and cars. The Center units advanced deep into the enemy's defenses, hitting five brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donbass, destroying up to 480 soldiers. The enemy lost up to 185 soldiers, a tank, two armored combat vehicles, 10 vehicles and an artillery piece.

The eastern group of troops liberated the settlement of Novonikolaevka in the Dnipropetrovsk region and hit the Ukrainian Armed Forces formations in the Zaporizhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions, destroying more than 240 military personnel and equipment. Dnepr units defeated the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, destroying up to 65 military personnel and equipment.

Tactical aviation and artillery continued to strike warehouses and command posts in 157 districts. Air defense systems shot down three HIMARS multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) projectiles and 340 drones.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, since the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 667 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 83,708 UAVs, 628 anti-aircraft missile systems, 25,079 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,591 multiple rocket launchers, 29,527 field artillery and mortars, 41,677 pieces of special vehicles.
