The tsunami threat to the shores of Kamchatka has been lifted. This was announced on September 13 at the main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Kamchatka Territory.
"The threat of a tsunami to the shores of Kamchatka has been removed," the department wrote on its Telegram channel.
It is specified that the approach of the wave near populated areas was not recorded. In addition, according to updated data from seismologists, the magnitude of the earthquake was 7.4.
On this day, an earthquake of magnitude 7.0 was recorded in the waters of the Pacific Ocean near Kamchatka. The seismic event was felt in some areas of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Vilyuchinsky urban districts, but no evacuation of the population was carried out.
After the earthquake, a tsunami threat was announced. The services have been placed on high alert.
