- Russian clarinetist Lev Zhuravlev became a laureate of the ARD International Competition
Russian clarinetist Lev Zhuravlev has won the third prize in the ARD (International Music Competition). This was announced on the contest's website.
The ARD Competition is an annual classical music competition that takes place in September in Munich. Applications for the competition range from 350 to 450 musicians from 35-40 countries. Of these, 200 candidates are being pre-selected.
Zhuravlev's victory is a huge achievement. Not all music competitions provide an opportunity for Russian performers to perform under the country's flag, and some do not allow musicians from the Russian Federation to participate in such events at all.
Lev Zhuravsky was born in St. Petersburg in 2000. He received his musical education at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory in the class of Professor Grigory Maliev, where he studied from 2007 to 2023. Since 2019, he has been the chief clarinetist of the Mikhailovsky Theater in St. Petersburg.
On May 14, Fyodor Osver, the soloist of the St. Petersburg House of Music, received the second Prize at the Prague Spring International Competition. It was clarified that the musician was awarded the audience award, the prize of the publishing house Bärenreiter, and also received the prize of Prague as the most successful laureate.
