More than 100 people died when a ship capsized in Congo

A riverboat crash in northwestern Congo killed 107 people. This was reported on September 12 by NBC News.

It is specified that the boat caught fire and capsized on the Lualaba River in the Equatorial province. The incident occurred on Thursday, September 11th. There were about 500 passengers on board at the time of the sinking. Currently, 146 people are missing.

According to the TV channel, 86 people died in a similar incident in Basankusu province a day earlier. Several people are also missing.

The authors of the material note that the alleged causes of the incidents could be overloading of ships and the lack of life jackets. Problems with night navigation of ships are also reported.

Earlier, on September 2, 29 people died in a boat crash in Niger. There were 90 passengers on board at the time of the sinking. Two people are also missing. The alleged versions of the incident were an overload of the vessel or a collision with a wooden object in the water.
