A tsunami threat was declared in Kamchatka after a strong aftershock. This was announced on September 13 by the governor of the region, Vladimir Solodov.
"A tsunami threat has been declared. We ask you to be especially careful when visiting the Khalaktyrsky beach and other tsunami-dangerous areas," he said in a message on his Telegram channel.
In addition, Solodov clarified that specialists have already begun to inspect socially significant facilities. He also added that the services had been put on high alert.
According to the governor, at the moment there is no information about the damage caused by the earthquake.
The press service of the Main Directorate (GU) of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Kamchatka Territory reported on the same day that an earthquake of magnitude 7.0 was recorded in the Pacific Ocean near Kamchatka. The seismic event was recorded 114 km east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, which has a population of approximately 162.5 thousand people.
