Evgenia Khasis, convicted of murdering lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova, has been released after 16 years in prison. This became known on September 13.

According to RIA Novosti, Khasis was released from the Mordovian women's correctional colony, and administrative supervision has been established since the end of August.
