The body of the third victim was found after an accident on a single-seat cable car on Elbrus. This was reported to Izvestia on September 12 by the operational services.

"Investigators and criminologists of the investigative department found the body of a third deceased citizen during an inspection of the scene of the criminal case of an accident on a chairlift on Mount Elbrus with the participation of rescue squad personnel," the source said.

The accident on the single-seat cable car on Elbrus became known earlier in the day. Previously, the cause of the incident was the cable coming off the roller of one of the supports. Nine more people were injured in the accident.

It was later reported that investigators had opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers, which negligently caused the death of others").
