The State Traffic Inspectorate announced massive and continuous checks of drivers
On Friday and next weekend (September 12-14), traffic police officers will conduct massive and continuous checks on the country's roads, with special attention paid to the search for drunk drivers. The regional departments of the State Traffic Inspectorate announced the implementation of preventive measures.
Raids on drunk motorists will take place in the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Ulyanovsk, Ryazan, Kirov, Penza regions and other regions of the country.
On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminds drivers about the inadmissibility of driving under the influence of alcohol. Mass inspections on Russian roads to identify motorists who have got behind the wheel in a state of intoxication are carried out by traffic police on an ongoing basis.
"We ask citizens who have seen that a drunk person has got behind the wheel, who, by his inappropriate actions on the road, poses a danger to other road users, not to remain indifferent and report this to the police. Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate will definitely take all necessary measures to respond to such reports," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
He recalled that driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as refusing a medical examination, entail the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a heavy fine. In addition, in some cases, the driver faces criminal liability for these acts, Anton Belan emphasized.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that following the results of eight months of 2025, Moscow recorded a decrease in the number of accidents involving drivers with signs of intoxication by 30.5%.
