- The Federation Council warned Ukraine about the consequences of a pause in negotiations
By rejecting a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict, Ukraine may come to the conclusion that the next meeting at the negotiating table may already look more like a capitulation. Federation Council Senator Andrei Klimov warned about this on Friday, September 12.
According to him, the pause in the negotiations is the fault of Kiev, as it has never taken this dialogue seriously, seeking only another show.
"And since Russia was firmly on its course, saying that it was not against a political and diplomatic settlement, but until it worked, it would continue to achieve its goals by military means, Ukraine apparently became disillusioned and returned to its usual position, hoping that this would not irritate its Western partners," the politician said. in conversation with Lenta.Ru .
At the same time, according to the senator, the resumption of dialogue will largely depend on the reaction of the West, and especially Washington, to the pause that has arisen.
"We need to understand how seriously US President Donald Trump intends to seek a diplomatic settlement. If Washington makes the right decision, then the movement towards diplomacy will improve. Another question is that as our troops advance, it may eventually turn out that the next time Ukraine sits down at the negotiating table, it will be more like surrender," the politician concluded.
Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the delegations of the countries had taken a pause in negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. 360.ru . At the same time, he noted that communication channels have been established, and negotiators have the opportunity to communicate through these channels.
On September 5, Peskov stressed that Russian President Vladimir Putin does not rule out any possibilities for resolving the Ukrainian conflict, and he is open, among other things, to a trilateral meeting with American leader Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
