The driver who escaped from the scene of a fatal accident was detained in the Angara region.

In the Irkutsk region, a motorist was detained who killed a motorcyclist in the Kuytunsky district and fled the scene. The regional State Traffic Inspectorate announced this in its Telegram channel on Friday, September 12.

The accident occurred last Sunday, September 7, on the 55th km of the Kuytun– Novaya Kada–Kharik–Karymsk highway. According to preliminary data, the driver of the VAZ-2107 drove into oncoming traffic and crashed into a Racer motorcycle.

A 35-year-old motorcyclist was killed in the collision. His 29-year-old passenger suffered various injuries, and the girl was taken to the hospital.

The driver of the car fled the scene. Search operations were organized, during which he was detained. According to IrkutskMedia news agency, he turned out to be a 35-year-old resident of the Ziminsky district, he confessed to what he had done.

A criminal case has been opened against the motorist. He faces up to 12 years in prison. It is known that in 2022, a man was deprived of his driver's license for driving under the influence.
