The share of Chinese cars in the secondary market has doubled in two years
The share of used Chinese cars on sale in Russia has doubled over the past two years. Avito Auto experts told Izvestia about this on September 12.
So, at the end of the summer of 2025, Chinese cars accounted for 5.3% of all cars on the platform. A record high was recorded in February — 5.8%. For comparison, at the beginning of 2023, their share was only 2.4%.
The increase in supply in the secondary market is explained by the massive entry of new Chinese cars into the market. This encourages car owners to upgrade their cars — they purchase new models, and sell the cars they used.
In the summer of 2025, the number of ads featuring used Chinese cars increased by 43.9% compared to the same period last year. The number of offers increased the most among the brands Great Wall (+59.7%), Changan (+52.3%), Lifan (+45.3%), Exeed (+30.6%) and Geely (+20.7%), and among the models — Geely Emgrand EC7 (+57.2%), Great Wall Hover H3 (+54.9%), Geely Atlas (+53.7%), Haval F7x (+52.1%) and Haval F7 (+52%).
The top five most popular brands in the summer of 2025 looked like this: Chery (22.4% of all offers on the platform), Geely (18.3%), Haval (11.2%), Lifan (8.2%) and Changan (6.5%). The top models were Haval Jolion (3.7%), Chery Tiggo (T11) (3.6%), Geely Coolray (3.5%), Geely Monjaro (3.1%) and Lifan X60 (2.7%).
The day before, it was reported that the average price of a used passenger car in August 2025 in Russia was 1.43 million rubles, which is 4% less than at the end of last summer (1.49 million rubles).
Earlier, on September 10, it became known that as of mid-2025, there were 2.65 million Chinese-made passenger cars in Russia. Auto brands from China account for about 6% of the total number of registered passenger cars in Russia. In other words, every 17th passenger car in the country belongs to the Chinese brand.
