St. Petersburg hosts the International Forum of United Cultures
In St. Petersburg these days, it is clearly visible how representatives of completely different countries can speak the same language and understand each other. Guests and residents of the city can observe such cooperation during the XI International Forum of United Cultures, which will last for two more days.
The main theme of the event is new opportunities, one of the most striking examples of which is cinema. For example, the joint retrodetective of the National Media Group (NMG) and China "Red Silk" aroused genuine interest among viewers not only in Russia and China. In China, he received a rental certificate of the highest standard — the "Dragon Seal".
"The Chinese film was released nationally as a national film. But I would like to note that it is also being released in the Balkan countries, it has already been sold to South Korea and Japan, surprisingly enough. And in fact, this is a project that really unites cultures, but at the same time it is absolutely box—office and successful," said Svetlana Balanova, CEO of NMG.
Half the world is in St. Petersburg these days — Asia, Africa, Latin America. Those who continue to talk about the abolition of all Russian remain in a clear minority, correspondent Igor Baldin noted. An example of cultural collaboration is when theater directors from several countries discuss tours and joint productions at the same table. For example, a Russian theater is being opened in Senegal.
"Our globalization should be more open, multipolar, where we understand that every culture, every art has its own importance," said Umi Sen, Director of the Kalinka Cultural Center in Senegal.
The Forum of United Cultures includes dozens of venues, hundreds of delegates from 67 countries. Discussions at the Hermitage Media Center: from museum cooperation to artificial intelligence issues.
"Here you can meet, get to know someone. Some joint ideas may arise," said film director, People's Artist of the Russian Federation Karen Shakhnazarov.
Despite the skies closed by European countries, delegates from Europe also arrived in the northern capital of the Russian Federation. Pierre de Gaulle, the grandson of former French President Charles de Gaulle, explained that Western culture has nothing to do with Brussels rhetoric. And Asian countries are only winning.
"There are representatives of almost a hundred countries, about 40 official delegations. It is absolutely clear that there can be no question of isolating Russia," said Mikhail Shvydkoi, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural cooperation.
The day before, the general director of NMG, speaking at the XI St. Petersburg International Forum of United Cultures, said that during the first weekend of the screening of the film "Red Silk" in China, the box office of the film amounted to several hundred thousand dollars. Svetlana Balanova noted that the rental of "Red Silk" in China has been extended for a month. According to her, this confirms the success of the tape, as Chinese cinemas quickly withdraw films that are not popular.
