- Ivanov, the former deputy head of the Russian Defense Ministry, was charged with a second sentence.
Investigative actions in the second case of former Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov have been completed. The charge was upgraded to a more serious one. This was reported on September 12 by TASS with reference to law enforcement agencies.
According to the agency, the investigation into the criminal case involving Timur Ivanov and two other people has entered its final phase. The former deputy head of the defense department is charged with three counts of receiving large-scale bribes, money laundering on a large scale, as well as illegal possession and manufacture of weapons.
In the near future, Ivanov, businessmen Sergei Borodin and Alexander Fomin, as well as lawyers of the defendants in the case, will be officially charged with final charges, the agency's source said.
Another law enforcement source added that the new accusation of illegal arms trafficking was due to the fact that Ivanov, "as the expert examination established, redid the barrels himself."
On August 28, the case of the seizure of the property of former Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov to the state revenue will begin to be considered from the files of the Presnensky Court of Moscow on September 23. The case file states that the claim was filed as part of measures to monitor the compliance of expenses of persons holding public positions with their incomes.
On August 21, it was reported that the Presnensky Court of Moscow would consider the claim of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation on the conversion of Ivanov's movable and immovable property, the total value of which is 1.2 billion rubles. It is specified that from 2016 to 2024, the income of the former Deputy Minister of Defense and his wife, with whom he was married until 2022, reached 274.8 million rubles.
On July 1, Ivanov was sentenced to 13 years in a penal colony. In addition, he must pay a fine of 100 million rubles. He was also stripped of his state award and the title of Honored Builder of the Russian Federation. The court sentenced the second person involved in the case, Ivanov's ex-subordinate Anton Filatov, to 12.5 years in a general regime colony and a fine of 25 million rubles.
The former deputy minister was detained on April 23, 2024. He is charged with accepting a bribe, the amount of which is 1,185 billion rubles.
