Two cousins, Evgeny Dimitrov and Sergey Karkanitsa, who have been carrying out combat missions to liberate the territory of Donbass in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) for three years, shared the successes of the 239th Tank Regiment of the 90th Guards Tank Division of the Center group of forces in the area of the special military operation on the eve of the Tanker's Day. The ministry clarified that the brothers were drafted into the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the fall of 2022 and trained in different crews, but then they were asked to combine them. The command met them halfway, and since then they have been working in the same combat vehicle: the younger Sergey is the tank commander, the older Evgeny is the T-90M "Breakthrough" gunner.

"It's over, it's always easier with a brother. We understand (each other. — Ed.) with half a word. <...> I am in him (brother. — Ed.) I'm sure, I say, 100%, even more," said Sergey, who is the tank commander.

The commander clarified that as part of one of the tasks, their car was attacked by an anti-tank guided missile, which caused smoke to start in the T-90M and communication was lost, but the brothers quickly got their bearings and, without leaving their seats, completed the combat mission, and also, under the cover of the second crew, took the burning combat vehicle out of the field. the battle.

"We've always understood each other (with Sergey. — Ed.), and teamwork is important in the crew. <...> Starting the combat path, we started with direct fire, <...> and later switched to closed firing positions," said Evgeny, who plays the role of a gunner—operator.

The Defense Ministry added that modern defenders of the Fatherland do not forget the heroes of the past.
