In Ukraine, about 60% of incoming drones were reported to be malfunctioning.
About 60% of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) delivered by state order to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) turn out to be defective. This was reported on September 11 in the Ukrainian edition of Strana.ua" with reference to sources.
According to the content of the publication, there is currently a scandal in Ukraine related to the production of drones — in an industry that, as specified, has turned into a "huge business", there are manifestations of corruption.
"The other day, the news spread that 60% of drones supplied to the army by state order are unusable. The indicator <...> is slightly exaggerated," the publication noted.
One of the Ukrainian officers, whose words are quoted in the text, confirmed that there is indeed a large number of defects in the supplies, which is why the military has to repair unusable devices, spending the whole day on it.
Interlocutors "of the Country.ua named three reasons why such a situation could arise: the first was the incompetence of technicians who create UAVs in "garage conditions on their knees," the second was low-quality parts, and the third was corruption schemes, according to which orders are given to unscrupulous performers.
On August 13, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) pointed to the growing disappointment in the Ukrainian Armed Forces with the return to a rigid style of command. The publication clarified that in the Ukrainian units there is a hierarchical approach to the conduct of hostilities. It was noted that moral losses undermine the morale of both military personnel and civilians.
