- A monument to the Il‑76 crew shot down by the Ukrainian Armed Forces was unveiled in the Belgorod village
In the Belgorod village of Yablonovo, a monument was unveiled to the crew of the Il‑76 aircraft shot down by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), in which there were Ukrainian prisoners of war. This was announced on September 11 by the head of the Korochansky district of the Belgorod region, Nikolai Nesterov.
"In the village of Yablonovo, the grand opening of a monument to the fallen crew of the Il-76 aircraft took place," he wrote on the Telegram channel.
According to him, the memorial to the aircraft crew appeared due to the victory of the local branch of the party in a competition of socially significant projects. The initiative was aimed at perpetuating the memory of the victims and reminding them of the value of human life.
Nesterov also added that the monument will become a symbol of the courage and dedication of the crew members, whose names will forever remain in the history of the region and the country.
In 2024, the commander of the missile brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Mykola Dzyaman, ordered the downing of an IL-76 aircraft, inside which there were Ukrainian prisoners. The head of the department, Alexander Bastrykin, held a meeting on July 5, during which Dzyaman was accused of committing a terrorist act and was put on the international wanted list along with the rest of the participants in the crime.
