The President and Commander-in-chief of the Venezuelan armed forces, Nicolas Maduro, has put into effect an active defense plan for the country. This was reported on September 11 by the Venezolana de Televisiontv channel.
"I am giving the course of this operation within the framework of the concept of integrated defense of the country — the concept of active resistance of the people and constant offensive actions in this fundamental battle to achieve and consolidate peace," he is quoted as saying in the Telegram channel of the publication.
He stressed that Venezuela would defend the peace it had won on its own. According to the President of Venezuela, the operation called Independence 200 will take place throughout the country, 284 fronts will be involved.
Maduro also thanked the Venezuelans who reject external threats with calmness, courage, firmness and unwavering faith.
On August 22, Maduro announced a nationwide call for the forces of the Bolivarian National Militia, as well as reservists and those willing to sign up for volunteers, on August 23 and 24 due to a possible threat from the United States.
