- The Commission of the Security Council of the Russian Federation has approved a project to reduce the number of accidents
The Interdepartmental Commission (IAC) of the Security Council of the Russian Federation (SB RF) has supported the draft strategy for improving road safety for the period up to 2030 and for the future up to 2036. This is stated in the message of the press service of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, which was received by Izvestia on September 11.
The document was prepared by the Russian Interior Ministry in cooperation with interested government agencies and published in July this year. It provides for reducing the death rate in road accidents by one and a half times by 2030 (compared to 2023) and by half by 2036.
The Security Council of the Russian Federation noted the need to introduce a number of innovations in criminal and administrative legislation, providing for increased responsibility for certain types of traffic offenses that pose threats to the life and health of drivers and pedestrians.
"Specific interdepartmental measures have been developed aimed at eliminating dangerous sections of roads, maintaining road infrastructure in proper condition, and providing timely and qualified first aid and medical care to victims of road accidents. Special attention is paid to the use of personal mobility aids," the Security Council said in a statement.
Earlier, on September 8, it was reported that from January to August 2025, Moscow recorded a decrease in the number of accidents by 7.8% compared to the same period last year. The number of dead and injured decreased by 28.6% and 6.6%, respectively.
