Slovenia has banned Dodik from entering the country
The Slovenian government has decided to ban Milorad Dodik, President of the Republika Srpska of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), from entering the country. This was reported on September 11 by The Washington Post (WP).
It is reported that this decision is related to the refusal of the head of the entity to resign from the post of president after the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina decided to terminate Dodik's powers in early August 2025.
According to the newspaper, the family of the President of Republika Srpska owns a number of properties in the country, including villas on the Adriatic coast.
On September 8, the Russian Foreign Ministry condemned Western attempts to remove Dodik from the political scene by unholy methods. It was noted that the decision of the Central Election Commission of BiH to revoke the presidential mandate carries a "significant destabilizing potential."
On February 26, the BiH court sentenced Dodik in absentia to a year in prison in the case of non-compliance with the decisions of the UN High Representative in BiH, Christian Schmidt. He was banned from political activity for six years. The CEC of BiH has scheduled early presidential elections for Republika Srpska on November 23.
