The FBI has found the rifle of Kirk's possible killer
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has discovered a weapon that was allegedly used in the murder of activist Charlie Kirk during a speech at the university. This was announced on September 11 at a press conference in Utah by local FBI representative Robert Balls.
"This morning, I can say that we have found a weapon that we believe was used in the shooting. It's a high-powered rifle with a slide—action bolt," Balls said.
The weapon was found in a wooded area, where the shooter disappeared. Investigators also collected shoe and forearm prints from the ground. The rifle and other evidence found will be sent for analysis.
The FBI representative thanked the public for their help — more than 130 messages were received in the morning. Balls added that the FBI has deployed all possible resources and will continue to work in this mode throughout the investigation.
The assassination attempt on Kirk took place on September 10. A politician who openly opposed the provision of military assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has died.
Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for cooperation with Foreign Countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), linked the incident to the depth of the split existing in the United States. According to him, the assassination attempt against a man who opposed the provision of military assistance to Ukraine is important not only for the United States, but for the whole world.
On September 11, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova pointed out that there was no real suspect in Kirk's murder. She stressed the need for an investigation. On September 10, US President Donald Trump promised to find "anyone and everyone" involved in the murder of American activist Charlie Kirk.
